Share
Everyone uses salt to season their food. You can't go wrong with a little salt!
Did you know that salt is the perfect ingredient to infuse with the smoke from our premium Hawaiian firewood? Add a new dimension of flavor to your salt that has a wide range of uses that we will cover!
Here's how:
How To Make Kiawe Smoked Salt
1. Choosing the Right Salt
To begin, select a high-quality salt with larger grains such as sea salt or kosher salt. The coarse texture allows for better smoke absorption, ensuring a more pronounced smoky flavor.
2. Preparing the Smoker
Set up your smoker or grill for indirect smoking. Place a handful of our premium Kiawe chunks on the charcoal or in a smoker box, depending on your equipment.
3. Heating and Smoking
Ignite the chunks and allow it to burn until it produces a steady stream of smoke. Adjust the temperature to maintain a low and consistent heat, creating the ideal environment for infusing the salt with smoky goodness
4. Preparing the Salt
Spread a thin layer of salt on a heat-safe dish or tray. This will expose more surface area of the salt to the smoke, ensuring optimal flavor infusion. Place the dish on the cooler side of the smoker or grill.
5. Infusing with Smoke
Carefully place the dish of salt in the smoker, away from direct heat. Close the lid and let the salt absorb the aromatic smoke for approximately 1 to 2 hours. The longer you smoke the salt, the more intense the flavor will become.
6. Cooling and Storage
Once infused with the delightful smoky essence, remove the dish of salt from the smoker and allow it to cool completely. Transfer the smoked salt to an airtight container for storage, ensuring its flavors are preserved until your next culinary masterpiece.
Now you have Kiawe Smoked Salt! It will taste better than store bought ones because YOU created it!
