If you really like the flavor of mesquite you will love our Kiawe firewood chunks locally grown and dried in Hawaii.

Kiawe wood (prosopis pallidia) is a slightly "sweeter" Hawaiian mesquite. This is a different species than mesquite in the western USA. This variety was naturalized in Hawaii over 170 years ago.

The Kiawe firewood chunks are great for smoking and BBQ your favorite meats or vegetable to give it the authentic Hawaiian smoke flavor.

Save yourself a trip to the grocery store or gas station we’ll bring the box or rack of firewood to your home or business and leave it on your front porch or store it where want it.

The Large Box is 12” x 16” x 12”, and has enough chunks for 40-55 meals.

How To Use Wood Chunks

Method 1 - Charcoal Grill

Step 1: Select from Kiawe, Ironwood, or Guava wood chunks, each with its unique flavor profile. For optimal smoke and flavor, only 1-3 wood chunks are needed. Although soaking the wood chunks is optional, we find that most of our customers choose not to soak, as these Hawaiian woods produce a rich smoke when used dry.

Step 2: Use your choice of lump charcoal or briquettes for your heat.

Step 3: Set up your charcoal grill for indirect cooking. Place the lit charcoal on one side of the grill, leaving the other side empty.

Step 4: Once the charcoal is ashed over and at the desired temperature, place 1-3 of your selected wood chunks directly on top of the coals.

Step 5: Wait 5-7 minutes after putting in your wood chunks before you start cooking or smoking

Step 6: Add additional chunks as needed

Method 2 - Gas Grill

Step 1: Choose from Kiawe, Ironwood, or Guava wood chunks.

Step 2: Place 1-2 wood chunks on the grate above the burner on your gas grill

Step 3: Preheat your gas grill on high with all burners on.

Step 4: Once the chunks begin to emit smoke and the heat is at your desired temperature you are now ready to start cooking or smoking

Method 3 - Smoker Box Grill

Step 1: Select your wood chunks from Kiawe, Ironwood, or Guava.

Step 2: Use your choice of lump charcoal or briquettes for your heat.

Step 3: Once the charcoal is ashed over and at the desired temperature, place 1-3 of your selected wood chunks directly on top of the coals.

Step 4: Wait 5-7 minutes after putting in your wood chunks before you start cooking or smoking

Step 5: Add additional chunks as needed
